Anchor Catcher

The Tubing Anchor Catcher performs two important functions. It is designed to anchor the tubing to the casing at depth in order to pull and maintain tension of the tubing. It is also designed to catch the tubing should it separate. Bi-directional cone and slip design holds force from above and below the Tubing Anchor Catcher.

Many years of field service have proven the Tubing Anchor Catcher effective and dependable. When properly set to overcome buckling and breathing the Tubing Anchor Catcher eliminates tubing movement that causes excessive rod, tubing and pump wear, and loss of pumping efficiency. Tubing is protected from the impact of parted rods and cyclic stresses caused by pump pounding and breathing. Operating costs are lowered by reducing excessive rod, tubing, and casing wear and the number of resulting pulling jobs. Elimination of the breathing and buckling also increases production by lengthening the effective stroke of the pump, thereby increasing volumetric efficiency.

The Tubing Anchor Catcher is set by left-hand rotation and released by right-hand rotation. The left-hand rotation moves both upper and lower cones under the slips forcing them out against the casing to set the tool. Right-hand rotation moves the cones from under the slips and allows the slips to retract into the housing. If the normal release method does not release the tool, the Tubing Anchor Catcher features an emergency shear release which can be adjusted by the selective shear pin arrangement.

Parts of the Tubing Anchor Catcher are interchangeable with other manufacturers' parts.

OPTIONAL
Right Hand Set Tubing Anchor Catcher designed to be used in completions with Progressive Cavity Pumps. The Tubing Anchor Catcher is set with 5 to 8 right hand rotations. Primary release method is straight pull shear and secondary is left hand rotation.
